In her works titled Blindfold Receptor, Leelee Chan addresses the phenomenon of industrial melanism via the history of the Peppered Moth. Shortly after factory fumes started polluting beech woods, the moth began to take on a dark pigmentation. Chan’s sculpture consists of individual mass-produced elements. Together, they form a caterpillar-like structure, emphasising the fact that flexibility and the ability to adapt are characteristics essential to survival in a rapidly changing environment. Technology and nature combine in this futuristic object.
