Bonnie Collura (b. 1970 in Port Jefferson/New York) names Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Walt Disney as the sources of inspiration for the complex sculptures, installations and drawings which she arrives at by means of sampling. Oscillating between abstraction and figuration, they combine the aesthetics of baroque sculpture with props and icons from Pop culture, but also with the politrical and social history of modern times. Collura ascribes a political dimension to her work, which she understands as strengthening female creativity in an art world dominated by men. For The Prince Project she was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship Award in 2005.
