Katja Novitskova interweaves digital pictorial worlds with reality in her work. Her sculptures – high-resolution photographs laid down on flat, object-based Cut Outs – allow both aspects to be experienced in direct confrontation with one another. They demonstrate the fact that we have long been operating in the virtual realm, which we now experience as a new form of reality. As a result, our natural environment can seem strangely indistinct and lacking in colour, or, to put it in positive terms, may appear reassuringly unspectacular
