Skulpturenpark Köln

The work of Asta Gröting (b. 1961 in Herford) comprises room-filling sculptures which are extraordinary in their form and use of materials. She combines an interest in the object-space relationship with a curiosity about existential questions, for example, in her anatomical sculptures, the energetic systems in both the human and the animal body. In 1993 she turned to the artistic possibilities of the mediums film and video. She has been represented at international exhibitions since the 1980s, among them the Venice Biennale (1990) and São Paulo (1994). Form 1997 to 2003 she was professor of sculpture at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich, since 2009 she has been professor at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig.
