From junk that he finds in scrap yards, Meuser (b. 1947 in Essen) constructs objects whose cool, reduced formal language suggests a link with the Neo- Constructivism of the 1960s and 1970s, which his wall and floor-works however interpret in undogmatic and humorous fashion, especially on the linguistic level. In rejection of pure form with its need for explanations, his sculptural creations gravitate towards image-formation, and there are stories concealed behind his abstract constructs. In 1992 his work was shown at documenta in Kassel. The group exhibition Ruinöse Abstraktion at the Kunstverein Bonn presented his works in 2007 as a central artistic position.
