Günther Förg (born 1952 in Füssen, died 2013 in Freiburg im Breisgau) is among the most relevant German protagonists of the art of the 80s. In 1992, he participated in the documenta IX, four years later he was awarded the Wolfgang-Hahn-Prize by the Gesellschaft für Moderne Kunst at Museum Ludwig in Cologne. For KölnSkulptur #8, his monumental wall is relocated to the centre of the park. The dark wall-part towers over the viewers. Its surface shows curvatures, ridges, indentations. Förg, who worked predominantly as painter and graphic artist, allows the traces of his own work to harden in clay. On the front side there is a trace visible which was clearly drawn by a hand. It is a recess on the heavy object's obverse, a motif of private motion, a smoothed duct in a leaden, yet vulnerable monument.
