The work of Paul Myoda (b.1967 in Wilmington, Del.) in the fields of sculpture, photography, film and art-publicism has to be be seen in the context of tensions between East-West and between art-historical models and technological avant-garde. Soon after his artistic training, his often anthropomorphic sculptures with their complex allegorical and cultural references were exhibited worldwide. Star Birth (1997) is an over-life-size sculpture in concrete, which, for all its organic allusions, refers inter alia to the birth of a star. In 2001, immediately after the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center, he began, along with Julian LaVerdiere to plan their spectacular light sculpture, Tribute in Light.
